The forthcoming BBC Gardeners’ World Live is set to get even more exciting with the news of a brand-new awards system, with the target to grace floral exhibitors with improved recognition for the displays they have worked so tirelessly on.
Along with the new acknowledgments, there will also be new categories added that have, until now, not been accredited.
With 10 months to go, BBC Gardeners’ World Live, which will be held at The Birmingham NEC from 16-19 June 2016, has revealed that a new horticultural team will be in place. The fresh faces will be headed up by Stephen Bennett and Bob Sweet. As we have previously reported, Cliff Plowes of Oak Tree Nursery will be the new horticultural show manager, and Imogen Bodimeade will flank him as the assistant show Manager, completing the team to make next year’s event a resounding success, we hope.
The new team has announced details of the Floral Awards for 2016 and beyond – replacing traditional judging methods.
So what can you expect to see at the forthcoming event? The all-new BBC Gardeners’ World Live Plant of the Year Award is set to be handed out for the best new plant introduction at the show. Alongside this the Geoff Hamilton Award for best exhibit in the Floral Marquee will go to one lucky contestant, as well as the Best Display of Summer Plants Award and the Best Retail Area in the Floral Marquee.
Just to round things up there will be a new Platinum Award, a category that will give recognition to outstanding exhibits in the Floral Marquee, with Gold, Silver Merit, Silver, and Bronze Awards also being awarded over the course of the event.
